So what's the price of admission you ask? For just $25, and in honor of the historic moment, Airbnb will also make a one-time donation to La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago. Because, as Lady Bird once said, good deeds count more this time of year.

The film, which many Britons watch reverently every Christmas, is now an astonishing 32 years old – and the house where it was filmed is still going strong.
In fact, the million-dollar Georgia mansion was available to rent for just one night on AirBnB last year.

Organizers promise a warm welcome, not an iron on the face or a blowtorch on the head.
Many of the rooms will still be instantly familiar to fans as the places where Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin – now 41 – foiled bumbling thieves Harry and Marv.
Eight-year-old Kevin managed to escape the house by sliding down the house's famous staircase on a tray and leaping out the front door.
In the film, the stairs of the house were covered in red carpet, and the entire entry area was covered in equally festive wallpaper.

The new owners had replaced the chintzy style with dingy stairs and soothing gray walls, but now the festive atmosphere is back.
With hanging stockings, there are many things to steal. Although of course the Wet Bandits are now in a nursing home.
After realizing the house is his, Kevin turns his room over to his parents', a place so ornate that would make even Donald Trump blush.
It had a four-poster bed, a huge TV, and even a fabulous fireplace with some very questionable wallpaper.

These days, the style has toned down a lot — but fans will be happy to know that the mansion's master suite has retained its four-poster bed all these years.
The McCallister's living room was so grand that it had a huge dining room with enough room for Buzz, Jeff, Megan, Lynne and – when they hadn't forgotten him – Kevin.
Homeowners in Illinois narrowed down their wallpaper choices compared to the wallpaper shown in the movie — but now floral walls are making a comeback.
The family kitchen was once so dark that it was perfect for hiding from the world's most determined thieves.

However, things looked very different when we last checked in – with the red and green color scheme gone in favor of bright white shelves.
Spotlights have also been added, and the kitchen island – a must-see for every American movie of the 1990s – is now covered in marble instead of tiles. My childhood was shaken today after watching The Movies That Made Us: Home Alone on Netflix last night (quite a good show, despite the animated narrative).
...a place of so many Christmas movie memories. Growing up as a kid in the 90s, I dreamed of living in two places. Hey Arnold in Arnold's Bedroom!…
From the film's second showing until about 1:00 a.m. EST on December 11, I was certain about three things about Home Alone: the movie was shot in Chicago, the house was real, and Joe Pesci had to come up with it. A fake dialogue technique to avoid uttering the word nonsense.
With The Help Of Airbnb, People Can Stay In Winnetka's 'home Alone' House
Finding out that all three facts were true, but he filmed interior scenes of the house in high school, was a complete shock to the system...
As you heard in the video above, the house was too small to fit the entire crew inside for filming. The pictures of the sets created by him are amazing...
I won't spoil any other cool facts revealed by the Netflix series, but the other interesting detail about the set was how they filmed the "flooded basement" scene.
Due to the amount of water filling the Murphy House, they had to drain it into something, so they used the high school's huge swimming pool. The incredibly relaxing pool would become home to one of the final scenes of the film.
Home Alone — Cinemisto
Most of the exterior scenes in the movie were filmed in the actual house, so don't throw all your nostalgia out the window just yet. The zip line scene was actually filmed inside the house, all the cars hitting the statue in the driveway were actually filmed inside the house, etc. etc.
These days, movie magic means Jar Jar Binks stepping into the toilet or Robert De Niro aging, but it's always great to see behind the scenes of elaborate practical sets. While it may be shocking, this look behind the scenes of this iconic film (and there are lots more amazing details) is worth a look this holiday season.
Bonus Note: While Christmas classics (12 Days of Christmas Stream) are great to listen to during the holiday season, the songs from John Williams made famous in Home Alone deserve to be in every playlist... Have you ever noticed, the original House "Home Alone" had a red and green color palette? 20th century Fox
Kevin McCallister's house in Home Alone is truly iconic, but what if the classic Christmas movie had been filmed now instead of in the '90s? Apart from the fact that the technology would have allowed the film to be finished in five minutes, the house might have looked a little different as well.

Interior design service Modsy, which has redesigned the homes on The Golden Girls, Friends, Seinfeld, and Sex and the City, has reimagined the McCallister family space to see what it would look like in 2018.
One of the things Maudsey pointed out about the original house is that the early 20th century Colonial Revival interior used red and green as the primary color palette – right down to the kitchen counters. Perhaps we were so engrossed in watching Kevin fight the Wet Bandits that we didn't even notice the intensity after watching it dozens of times!
The updated version of the living room keeps the same Christmas color palette, but looks a little more contemporary due to the new furniture. However, the overall look is still classic.

A rich shade of green ("Sweet Basil" by Benjamin Moore) replaces the original busy wallpaper on the walls, and the windows feel brighter when you get rid of the curtains.
The green sofa has been upgraded with a more contemporary but still traditional style from Ballard Designs. In front of them were two sofas facing each other which opened up the layout. This is especially helpful when the family is as large as Kevin's.
If you love the look of your living room, but aren't fully committed to having red and green furniture year-round, you can still take inspiration from that space when it comes to Christmas decor. Choose a large shrubbery, garlands, wreaths and nutcrackers to give your room a traditional holiday touch.
